The Amadeus story
Family owned and operated since 1992, the Amadeus Cafe serves authentic German
and Austrian cuisine along with many other European favourites. Located in the heart
of downtown Kingston just one block down from the Grand Theatre and a few blocks up
from the historic waterfront. A visit to the courtyard patio will have you believing you're
sitting at an outdoor cafe in Europe.

Consistency has been the key to success for this family run restaurant. The kitchen,
now run by son Brian Breitwieser and chef Peter Steger who arrived direct from Berlin (via Munich) in the spring on 2008.
Brian and Peter still use traditional family recipes left behind by Brian’s parents, Peter and Inge Breitwieser who
Sadly both passed away in 2009. Brian takes great pride and warmth being able to pass along his Family's recipes in honour
of his beloved Parents.

Along with an extensive menu, the Amadeus offer's one of the best draught beer
selections in the city. Along with a couple of local micro breweries, Brian and 10 year
floor manager Lori Feijo, keep a close eye on exciting new imports. This summer
offers the likes of Warsteiner - verum and dunkel, Hacker Pschorr - hefe weisse,
edelhell, and keller, Paulaner - dunkel weisse, and salvator, Pils, and Stella Artois.
They also offer a nice selection of white and red table wines, all available by the glass
or carafe.

Starting in March 2007, the restaurant now offers "Club Amadeus" to it's regulars.
These theme evenings explore cuisine from around the globe. In the past, we have visited
such locations as Russia, Sweden, Portugal, and even Canada to name a few.
Other specialty night's included "Schnitzel night", "Smoked Pork Hock night",
or even bar-be-ques on the patio in the summer. Contact us if you would like to be
included in our monthly e-mail list. Dinner for two is drawn monthly. The first
Wednesday of each month is a German Stammtisch in the banquet room. A
truly fun experience for all to try and enhance their level of German proficiency.
As there are many levels of German spoken here, it is truly a welcoming event.
